For all people who support women in science, here’s an opportunity to get out under dark skies and learn how to use a telescope. Rose City Astronomers is honoring Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space, on the 54th anniversary of her historic 1963 flight.
On Friday, June 16, we’ll meet up at Tanasbourne Starbucks in the Barnes & Noble Bookstore at 18300 NW Evergreen Pkwy, Beaverton, OR 97006 between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. At 8:30 we will car caravan or ride share to Stub Stewart State Park outside of Vernonia. RCA will provide the printed stargazing parking permit. Wear warm clothes and bring more; we’ll provide red LED flashlights, a bathroom is available, and we’ll leave about 11:00 p.m. or when viewers want to return home.
