John Goar travelled to Chile last summer with the Astronomy in Chile Educator Ambassador Program (ACEAP). John will share information about American investment in Chile and why the majority of astronomy infrastructure will soon be there.
John is a member of the Olympic Astronomical Society, Bremerton, Washington. He is a master observer who built two Dobsonian telescopes. He teaches high school science and, in the summer, leads public telescope programs at Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. John won the George and Helen Hartzog Volunteer Service Award as the outstanding individual volunteer in the National Park Service in 2016. John most enjoys observing galaxies, asteroids and comets.
